I had to gif this. Because i was so impressed with Dylan in this scene. You see his fear of dying in his eyes, in the way his hands shake. The way his bottom hand is clutching the end of the sword. I mean, i’m surprised blood didn’t start dripping from his hands and it didn’t cut him from how strongly he was gripping it? But then you also see that Stiles is in fact resigned to the fact that he will sacrifice his own life if it will save everyone. And i think that just resonates so much with who Stiles really is. He’s scared all the time. He’s the boy who gets panic attacks. Who keeps his fears and troubles bottled up in a shelf in his heart. And yet despite all this fear he wants to be something more. He wants to be Batman. He won’t sit at the sidelines and watch all the supernatural destroy the place he calls home - Beacon Hills. And i think that’s what i love most about Stiles. He’s a fighter.
Stiles determination to sacrifice himself is amazing because there is always a choice in everything we do and it’s what makes us who we are. We are defined largely by the choices we make. And the poor bb is resigned with dying if it means saving everyone but the fighter in him and his brains always win in the end because he’s strong. I think that’s my favourite part in this whole scene. When he realises it’s a trick. It’s an illusion set up by the nogitsune. Because the way he stops shaking immediately and the look on stiles face as he turns around and realises it’s not real is amazing. Stiles loves knowing things, he always has to keep up with what’s going on. The nogitsune played with his mind and he no longer had control over himself. He could no longer be the guy who finds out what’s going on and fixes things. He became the one who had to be fixed. To be saved. And that spilt second of realisation was so great. Because he’s slowly taking up his role in the pack again, with what he does best. Figuring out the puzzle, and formulating plans. His own life may come last to everyone else’s but he’s not ready to die. Not just yet. He can still fight this.
It breaks my heart for Stiles but seriously Dylan win an oscar already.
